Mr. Lucas

My name is Mr. Lucas and I ’m very excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I look forward to a happy and productive school year where all of us will grow and learn together.

I was born in Brooklyn Hospital and raised in Far Rockaway, Queens and loved playing sports such as basketball and baseball and going to the beach. Im a die hard Mets, Knicks and Jets fan…. so get used to it.

I graduated with a B.A. in Secondary Education from Brooklyn College in 2012. As a fifth year of teacher in the Bronx the one thing I have realized is, I  need to be what I want my students to be; and that they will only go as far as the support I provide and the amount and type of opportunities presented to them. This responsibility is what drives me. Having the chance to impact the lives of not only the students I work with but their families, neighbors and communities for generations to come is a humbling and at times daunting task yet there is no other endeavor worthwhile.

I enjoy cooking, making jokes, laughing, reading, playing Video games (NBA 2K) watching movies/documentary, and spending time with my family (My wife Brenda, 9 year old son Daniel).

If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact me at dlucas@sbecacs.org.

Once again, welcome. Let’s work together to make this the best year ever!

Best,

Mr.Lucas

Ms. Wong

Hi 6th graders! My name is Ms. Wong! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.  I taught summer school 4th and 5th grade, tutored and was a substitute teacher for various schools in a variety of grades (Kindergarten to 6th Grade).

In 2011, I graduated from Metropolitan College of New York with a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6). I absolutely love learning, and can’t wait to learn from and with all of my students.

When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my family.

I also like to read and I enjoying reading with my kids. I have two kids, Sophie (5 years old) and Rudy (3 years old).  Our favorite genres are non-fiction because they love animals and the world around them. This love of reading has been with me since Buffalo, NY where I was born and raised and where my parents still live and we visit often. I am excited to share that love of reading with you too.
